Slant-Six Club's 22nd Annual Fall Meet
The Slant Six engine was introduced in 1960 and soon earned a reputation for endurance and reliability. So much so the design was produced for a variety of applications through 1991. The engine also set a nice balance between power and economy and even offered strong performance under the right circumstances. The in-line design in base form produced equal or more horsepower and higher torque than the comparable engines produced by both Ford and GM. Racers often used the engine tweaking it to produce 196 hp or more.
The Slant-Six Club is dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of all Chrysler products that are powered by the venerable slant-six engine. Although Chrysler V-8 and AMC products are accepted, the emphasis is on the Slant-Six. Originally started in 1980 as the Dart/Valiant Slant-6 Club of America by Harry Aunes of California, the club was taken over in 1986 by Jack Poehler of Oregon. The Chrysler Products Slant-Six Club was founded as an offshoot in 1985 by Dan Gallo of NY and was eventually merged back into the now defunct Slant-6 Club of America.
In its current form, the Slant-Six Club consists of an avid and active group of enthusiasts who put on numerous shows and fund-raisers throughout the year as well as attending local events throughout the state. But most of all, the members enjoy driving their cars. And isn’t that what it’s all about.
